Unilever Nepal’s finance team went through a first of its kind workshop, in partnership with Snap Ark, to inaugurate its journey of embedding Care, Courage, Connectedness in its cultural DNA. The primary objective of the workshop was to enhance the teams' ability to exercise courage, care, and connectedness consistently and sustainably, especially in times of change and uncertainty. The workshop aimed to achieve this objective by aligning with the three key behaviors that reflect Unilever's culture of Human, Purposeful, and Accountable leadership.
The full-day workshop was attended in person by the entire finance team along with its business partners and key stakeholders, where the finance leadership team exerted the importance of strengthening interpersonal relationships. Through personal experience sharing, the trainer, facilitation expert at Snap Ark- emphasized that these connections are not only valuable for personal growth but also essential for effective teamwork and collaboration within the organization. The workshop provided ample opportunities for insightful conversations and learning for all team members. The discussions were thought-provoking and often led to moments of personal revelation.
In continuation to embracing the Care, Courage, and Connectedness initiative, Unilever Nepal Finance Team conducted a Spotlight Event. Focusing upon the theme “Connected”, an engagement session was organized within the team where the speakers took the participants through outward looking and future focused topics about the connection within the organization (Conflict Management), external world (Sustainability – Environment Care), and Everchanging workplace (Digital Automation).
During the session, participants had the opportunity to broaden their understanding of the topics as they prepared for the discussion and the dynamic exchange of insights cultivated a connected and vibrant atmosphere for all involved. There were three topics discussed in detail, Digital Transformation, Conflict management and Sustainability commitment.
In the Digital Transformation session, emphasis was placed on the indispensability of digital transformation for businesses to maintain competitiveness. The transformative power of digitalization lies in its ability to align with customer expectations, enhance operational efficiency through optimal resource utilization, boost agility, and secure a competitive edge. A crucial takeaway from the session underscored the significance of staying abreast of the latest IT technologies and their benefits as a key advantage in achieving overarching goals.
Moreover, aligning sustainability with business objectives is imperative in today's context. Given the escalating external scrutiny from stakeholders, including environmentalists, government authorities, and investors, it is incumbent upon everyone to take responsibility for their actions and devise strategies that contribute to both environmental well-being and business goals. While embracing sustainability poses challenges such as accountability and extensive reporting, fostering collaborative efforts and maintaining connectivity with pertinent stakeholders will not only aid organizational growth but also fulfill the commitment to sustainability.
Finally, the last session was more inclined towards team bonding and building communication. The session was focused upon the approaches to conflict resolution through real-life examples and role plays within the team.
